Hunter, a young man who worked as a carpet cleaner while attending University in the USA, started the Chem-Dry history in 2000. Hunter was not impressed by the company’s cleaning products and those of its competitors. They left chemical residues which attracted dirt more and took longer to dry. Hunter started looking for a better method to clean carpets, and he found it in an unexpected place.
He spilled some salad dressing while on a flight back from school during a break. Club soda was the trick that a flight attendant used to get rid of the stain. The soda’s carbonation would break down the stain, which would allow her to remove the stain without damaging the silk. Hunter wondered if carbonated water would work on a tie.
